About Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the skin that plays a vital role in maintaining its hydration and overall health. It is a large, gel-like molecule that has the ability to attract and retain water, keeping the skin moisturized and plump.
The presence of an adequate amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin is crucial for maintaining its hydration. HA acts as a humectant, which means it can draw water from the surroundings and bind it to the skin, preventing moisture loss. It forms a protective barrier on the skin's surface, preventing transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and keeping the skin hydrated.
